An original 19th century cast iron door stop portraying a mythical scene of a man slaying a serpent with an axe. A well-cast piece with plenty of detail, particularly the snake's head and scales. When we first acquired it, it was coated in a thick layer of gloss paint. This has now been removed to reveal the quality of the casting and then given a coat of black wax to seal the metal from the air.
