An early 19th century cast iron door knocker in the form of a collection of sea shells. This is a rare design, and reflects the Victorians' keen interest in natural history.
 
The loose rust has been removed to heighten the definition of the casting. It could now be left to naturally dull down, or it could be painted if preferred. Original hand-cut square bolt nuts.
