A charming 19th C sailor's woolwork proudly declaring that 'Britannia Rules the Waves'!!
 
A naive portrayal of the English lion wearing Queen Victoria's crown sits at the feet of a smiling Britannia, both of them overseeing a fine English warship in full sail. This vessel is surrounded by naval flags; from each corner there are military cannons accompanied by their ramrods and cannon balls.
 
This is a lovely genuine piece of sailor's folk art. It is in its original mahogany veneered frame.
