An early Victorian provincial pine writing bureau, possibly made for a shop. This is a striking piece, decorated with a bold 'scumbled' paint finish. The internal desk top is fitted with mahogany pigeon-holes and drawers. Original textured rexine covered slope. Old repair to hinge areas. Chips and crackling to the paintwork all add to the patina and history of this piece, but it is sound and clean. A useful and compact item of furniture with a lovely folk art look to it.
