A late 19th/early 20th century wrought iron, wall-mounted game rack. We are very excited to have found this - a lovely period feature of an English country estate. Think Gosford Park! The rack is riveted strapwork iron, and features 68 hooks. Traditionally a brace of birds would be hung on each hook i.e. holding 136 birds, with the strong lower rail on which larger game could be hung. In 'as found' condition, with remnants of old limewash paint. If you are not one for game-shooting, then this rack would look fantastic in a scullery, outhouse or conserveratory for drying herbs and flowers.
