An antique sailor's woolwork or 'woolie' of HMS Warrior. Most likely, this would have been made by someone serving on this ship. Executed on hessian canvas with wools and twine. Particular attention has been paid to the sails by 'padding' them to suggest they are 'billowing' in the wind. Also, dyed natural sheep's wool has been added to create the 'smoke' from the two chimneys. Small amount of damage to one of the sails, but overall in good condition. Some light-fading to colour.

Launched in 1860, HMS Warrior was Britain's first iron-hulled battleship, and at the time was also the largest and fastest of all the Royal Navy's fleet.
