A large Edwardian round shellwork diorama featuring a chromolithograph of a lighthouse with a sailship passing in the distance. In front of this image is an artfully arranged display of shells, seaweed and coral, creating a 3D effect to the view. In good condition, and ready for wall hanging.
These shellwork dioramas were produced in the late Victorian/early Edwardian period as souvenirs of coastal towns and seaside locations, often bought by sailors to take home as presents for their sweethearts.
