A fine 19th century sailor's woolwork, or 'woollie', of a British Naval ship passing the French coast. An example with a good, strong composition, still retaining some strong  bright colours to the wools. A few minor losses and holes. Mounted in a mahogany veneered frame. The woolwork has been removed to clean the glass, and then put back in the frame with a sealed back.
