A large and impressive 19th century sailor's woolwork, or 'woolie', reputedly of the Royal Naval HMS Brunswick (however this is hard to verify). A beautiful, well-worked maritime picture nonetheless. Handwritten label to reverse states that this piece was exhibited at Floral Hall, Covent Garden, in 1861 and made by J. H. Miller, Brixton.

In very good condition for age. Some fading as usual with these kinds of pieces. Original maple frame.
