A naive sailor’s woolwork of the ‘Angola’, a barque built in the late 19th century in Nova Scotia. This was a trading ship that ran between Canada and England, hence the ‘stars and stripes’ and the ‘union jack’ flying at the top of her masts. This ‘woolie’ is unusual in having a raised velvet frame around the image, setting it back from the surface of the glass. In very good condition, in a period maple frame.
