A late 19th/early 20th c. large pottery cockerel. A splendid piece despite its faults. Most likely produced as a one-off, as a piece of studio pottery. Sculpted in biscuit clay, and then decorated in coloured glazes. Unfortunately it has spent some of its life outside in a garden, so the weather has caused some of the glazed coloured surface to flake off. Having said that, there is enough remaining to still make it highly decorative. The colours are somewhat reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts period.
