An exceptional Victorian carved wood pigeon decoy made for the gunsmith firm of Trulock and Harriss. The pigeon decoys of Trulock and Harriss are widely considered to be the best ever produced, and when you study the detail that the carver put into them, you can see why. This example is in relatively good condition, for a field-working decoy, with a lot of its original paintwork still evident. It retains its original metal beak and glass eyes. There is a small bit of damage to the tail area, and general wear overall. A rare early decoy example.
