A striking pair of carved hardwood bookends in the form of elephants. This is a particularly good set, not only because of the bold angular carving of the animals, but also in the way that an element of power and motion has been portrayed. The elephants appear to be bracing themselves with their heads pushing forward (giving the illusion that they are straining to hold books upright!). In lovely condition with original carved wood tusks, and glass bead eyes.
