A striking and rare printed cotton flag, produced to commemorate Edward VIII's ascension to the throne in January 1936 (he abdicated later that same year). Edward's portrait is flanked by graphic examples of Great Britain's war machinery, symbolic of the country's power on land, sea and air. The flag has been mounted onto linen board and framed in hand-stained ash wood. There are some period faults, namely pin holes in each corner, and some minor water stains and rust marks.
