An intriguing oil on canvas painting of a group of figures gathered outside a London polling station. It appears to be set at an indoor market, possibly Spitalfields or similar. Unsigned and undated, but we would estimate it dates from the late 1940s/early 1950s. There is a number on the back of the canvas which suggests it was exhibited at some point.
 
Unfortunately there is now some flaking paint to the surface areas. Despite this, it remains an attractive picture and could warrant some restoration to be carried out on it. Sold as seen.
