A wonderful ship diorama depicting the three-masted sailing vessel 'Beechbank', built by Russell & Co., Greenock, in 1892. It was built for Andrew & Weir & Co., Glasgow, and used for their Bank Line (started in 1905), a British commercial shipping line. The model is beautifully presented in a bespoke-made glazed case, which has its own folk art qualities. Not only does it feature the name of the ship, it also features two flags, carved in relief and hand painted. One flag is the Red Ensign, signifying that it was a British merchant/passenger ship, and the other is that of the Bank Line Company.
