A wonderful example of antique folk art. This naive model of an early Victorian steam-powered packet ship is beautiful in its simplicity. Comprising of a carved wooden hull combined with hand-painted masts and sails on the back wall of the case to create the illusion of a fully-rigged ship in motion. Even the glazed case is a work of art. Trapezoid in shape with the front facade framed in stained bamboo. A rare and unique piece.
