A period monochrome ink and watercolour painting entitled 'The Country Club'. The satirical picture features a gathering of gentlemen at their 'club', conversing, wining, and dining. The 'club law' posted on the wall in the picture lists the 'rules of the house', including one specifying that 'All fines to be spent on punch'.

Although dated 1794, this is possibly a later 19th century rendition. Executed on paper laid onto canvas and framed in a gessoed pine frame.
