SOLD

A pair of late Victorian shellwork dioramas of the rarer large 'starfish' shape. It is not often that you find this size, and it's particularly rare to find two in such good condition. Both incorporate nostalgic marine-themed chromolithographs, in front of which is an artfully arranged display of shells and seaweed, creating a 3D effect to the views. All encased in a hand-blown glass bubbles. In overall good condition for their age.

These shellwork dioramas were produced in the late Victorian/early Edwardian period as souvenirs of coastal towns and seaside locations, often bought by sailors as presents for their sweethearts.

Price quoted is for the pair.
