A 19th century carved limewood figure of John the Baptist, seated, with a lamb to his side. The figure has been gessoed, painted and decoratively highlighted with water gilt.

The attention given to the paint effects on the base, making it look like marble, is particularly notable. This treatment makes it reminiscent of early 19th century Staffordshire pottery figures. The left hand has an old repair, and the staff is most likely a replacement for the original wooden cross.
