Richard Beer (1928–2017) was a painter, printmaker, designer, and teacher. He originally studied theatre design at the Slade School of Art (1945–50), later moving to the painting school where he was inspired by his teachers including Lucian Freud, Graham Sutherland and Keith Vaughan. He went on to teach printmaking at the Slade, and later at Chelsea School of Art, until 1993.

 

He published numerous prints, exhibited widely, and has works in many great institutions including the Tate Gallery, the V&A, the Government Art Collection, and the Camden Local Studies & Archive Collection.
