A mid-19th century oil on canvas painting of a characterful terrier dog. The dog is annotated as a 'Scottish Terrier' but it more closely resembles a West Highland Terrier, than the 'Scottie' dog that this title implies. Signed to reverse 'W. C.'.
 
There are a couple of small holes to the corner areas, but otherwise in good condition. Set within a handsome period gilded gesso frame.
