A Victorian pottery water jug for a public house bar. Blue and white slipware border pattern on a brown earthenware ground. The main band of blue has a series of transfer printed characters applied under the final glaze. These exceedingly eccentric characters are drawn as a series of tumbling bottles and barrels with arms, legs and faces - one even has a smoking pipe! A highly unusual piece in perfect condition.
