The original artwork for a Victorian children's book to illustrate the seasons. This is a beautifully drawn piece with a charming composition, executed in pencil, watercolour, and gouache. The colours are bright and unfaded, so it has obviously been kept away from direct sunlight. It is titled 'Summertime' in the lower left-hand corner, and signed 'L. Hope' in the right. Mounted and framed in a period maple frame. Unframed illustration dimensions 16 x 24cm (h x w).
