This type of 19th century family bible are fairly common, however, rarely seen in such good condition as this one! It is doubtful that this example was used for many years, and indeed for most of its life - it must have been wrapped and hidden from sunlight to preserve it in such good condition. The giltwork is so fresh and bright, and the brass clasps even have the original lacquer on them.
