A stoneware barrel-shaped water jug, with gilded banding, and 'Green Man' mask spout. The handle resembles a twisted tree branch. The base is impressed with the maker's mark 'Brownfield', and date of manufacture - '1882'. The Brownfields were potters based in Cobridge, North Staffordshire from about 1837 to the 1890s. We have a small quantity of these jugs, having originally been part of the contents of an old Victorian hotel. As they're made of stone china, they are very resilient and enduring, and consequently they are all in good condition. They have a nice weight to them, and pour well. Varying amounts of gilt rubbing.

Prices: £45 (15cm jug); £55 (17cm and 17.5 cm jugs); £65 (19.5cm jug)
